Henley Highlights 2017!
Posted on Jul 19, 2017
The storms have rolled in for the week and we’re feeling a little bit glum, where has that sunshine gone!? To brighten up the day we thought a little feature on what we loved at this years Festival could do the trick, so without further ado here are our top 10 moments:
Pet Shop Boys and their lasers – The Boys did not disappoint with their incredible light show which wowed the crowd. Assuring the crowd this was going to be a night full of sing-a-longs and dancing, the Pet Shop Boys included The Pop Kids, West End Girls, It’s a Sin and finished with an encore of Domino Dancing and Always on My Mind in their incredible set. Thursday became the new Friday!
If you didn’t catch one of our Champagne usherettes, who didn’t love bubbles at the push of a button?! Our mini Moet bottles with their little gold funnels proved to be quite the evening companion for many of our Festival goers!
Saturday night spent in the Salon Comedy Club was gold! Russell Kane’s brilliant and vibrantly performed set had all the seats filled, plus a few on feet. Hilarious gags and anecdotes had the audience laughing from beginning to end.
Girl Power combo: When Melanie C joined All Saints on stage on Sunday evening to close their amazing nineties set singing Pure Shores. The audience were on their feet, the fans were singing the lyrics back – it was a fab way to end the festival!
#Daytonight sponsored by Volvo was beautiful! Stephen Newby’s Beating Heart shone from daylight to twilight as it slowly spun 360 degrees. This, coupled with the extraordinary forest of ‘Lumens’ by David Ogle lit up the Riverside Lawn. Which of you were one of the lucky ones who won themselves a Volvo Chauffeur home through their #HenleytoHome competition?!
The confetti filled Bubble Spheres. Those very flexible, acrobatic girls who effortlessly contorted their bodies on land and in water added a little bit of magic to our Roving Troupe.
The Floating Stage Sessions from PizzaExpressLive were a wonderful warm up for all Festival goers to go and enjoy in the Grandstand and the Lawn. Mica Paris and the Stax’s were incredible on Friday night – definitely a favourite!
Don’t have a ticket for a seat? Not to worry – Invesco Perpetual’s bespoke seating in the Luminescent Lounge was ideal for those who wanted to relax, chill and chat and at the same time were at the heart of the event.
Goldie & The Heritage Orchestra – a fantastic, alternative performance with amazing musicianship. The set, featuring Inner City Life had the entire Lawn area dancing on their feet from the first note played to the last drum beat made.
Last but certainly not least: 2017 – The year of the floating bar! The Beckhoff Marina Bar enabled you and your guests to gather away from the Festival site and to a little venue of its own, accompanied by acoustic music! Perfect!
With the Festival been and gone, we hope this has brought back some fond memories! Keep your eye out for our 2017 Photos to be included on our websites Gallery.
