Gold Standard Comedy for 2017
Posted on Mar 3, 2017
This year we have an incredibly funny and diverse Comedy line up, creating a miniature festival within our boutique event at our very own Salon Comedy Club. Although you may not find yourself on your feet like you would beside the Floating Stage, you will find yourself indulging in chuckles, chortles and cackles throughout the evening.
We have an array of comedians this year; from regulars on panel shows such as Mock The Week and stand-up comedians featuring on Live at the Apollo to comedy duo’s who like to add a bit of rhythm to their punchline. The Comedy Triple Bill will be an eclectic mix of comedians, delivering punchlines that will transform your smile into a roar of laughter.
On Wednesday, the Salon Comedy Club will once again open its doors to three slide spitting sessions. One of the most in – demand satirists Matt Forde will kick start the sniggers, and will then be followed by Stephen K Amos, who has impressed critics with his performances both on stage and screen and has proved he has one of the most unique voices in comedy. If you’re wanting your giggles to continue, we then have a Comedy Triple Bill, headlined by Paul Sinha, accompanied by both Allyson June Smith and Toby Hadoke.
‘Seann Walsh remains one of the most entertaining observational comics on the block’ Independent
Thursday Evening will commence with comedian and magician Paul Zenon. The Comedy Triple Bill will consist of Glenn Moore, Kiri Pritchard McLean and headlined by the weird and wonderful Paul Foot. Paul has been a regular face (easily recognised by his diverse choice of hairstyle) on shows such as Have I got News For You, Mock the Week and Never Mind The Buzzcocks. A slightly later show will also run on Thursday, where Mitch Benn will bring his guitar to merge your chuckles with his musical chords.
‘I want to put all of my jokes into a spreadsheet…that way I can totally Excel myself.’ Russell Kane
If Chaka Khan hasn’t tickled your fancy on Friday evening, do not worry! The Salon Comedy Club could (will) be the place for you. A decade after her debut, Sara Pascoe has established herself as one of the most interesting and original comics around. She will get the ball rolling and will be taken over by Andy Parsons, a regular on Mock the Week for a solid 11 series. The Comedy Triple Bill will be made up of the twitchy & nervy Australian Felicity Ward, Garrett Millerick and Mark Dolan.
Quasimodo walks into a bar and orders a Blended Scotch. Barman says “Bells Ok?”.Quasimodo says “Mind your own F****ing business”. Thinking Drinkers
The penultimate evening at the Salon Comedy Club welcomes the curly, messy haired and Foster’s Comedy Award Nominee, Seann Walsh will take to the stage. At 9.15pm the multi-award winning Russell Kane will unleash another blisteringly-funny show for you. Eshaan Akbar, Matt Barnard and Tom Ward will be fronting Saturday’s Comedy Triple Bill. As the night is young, we will also welcome The Thinking Drinkers to the stage at 12.15am, the duo who like to add a little liquor to their laughter.
The Salon’s finale will not disappoint. We will be joined by Radio Active, the collective consisting of Angus Deayton, Helen Atkinson Wood, Michael Fenton Stevens and Philip Pope who have reunited to bring classic scripts from the award-winning radio series back. Our last Comedy Triple Bill will make you laugh with shows from the Winner of Chortle Awards Best Compere John Robins, New-Zealander Rose Matafeo and another comical duo, Harry and Chris. Nish Kumar will then bring our five-day-laughter-streak to an end at 10.30pm.
