Calken Gallery are excited to introduce two leading sculptors in figurative art to the Henley Festival this year.
Both Michael James Talbot and Gill Parker create stunning bronze sculpture, each artist uniquely finishing and patinating their work with high degree of technical accuracy, which is crucial to their artistic integrity.
Gill Parker is a leader in the field of equine and wildlife bronze sculptures, with the inspiration for Michael James Talbot being the human form and its dramatic poetry.
Gill says “The inspiration for my sculpture is purely my life-long passion for animals and the natural form. As I approach each new subject, I begin a voyage of discovery both in the real animal and the style of its portrayal and it’s a fascinating journey of which I never tire. I want to create unpretentious, ‘stand- alone’ pieces of art that need no explanation, but only seek to capture the living, breathing, beautiful forms of nature.”
“The wonder and fascination of sculpture is its ability to be a solid form that can be seen, touched and walked around and yet remain an object of pure spirit” – Michael James Talbot
Based in Marlow, Calken Gallery is thrilled to have the wonderful opportunity to showcase these beautiful sculptures all together in the perfect setting of the Henley Festival.
