Dave Stewart's Eurythmics

8:45 pm on Thursday 11th July 2024

The Floating Stage

With a career spanning four decades and over 100M album sales worldwide, award-winning singer, songwriter, musician, producer and Eurythmics co-founder Dave Stewart is among the most respected and accomplished talents in popular music history. Stewart co-wrote and produced each Eurythmics album in his world-famous duo with Annie Lennox. He has also produced albums and co-written songs with Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Tom Petty, Gwen Stefani, Damian Marley, Stevie Nicks, Daryl Hall, Bryan Ferry, A.R. Rahman, Katy Perry, Sinead OConnor, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, and Joss Stone, and many others. Recently, Stewart and Stone penned the new musical, “The Time Travelers Wife,” opening at The Apollo Theatre in London’s West End October 2023. In 2022 Dave Stewart released Ebony McQueen, one of his most ambitious and autobiographical works of his remarkable life and landmark career; an exhilarating, original, semi-autobiographical musical fable about music and young manhood, finding hard-earned wisdom and true love with the girl next door. The acclaimed album was released last year and work on the film is due to begin shortly. In addition, he has recently completed a unique music short film titled “Who To Love,” a collaboration between himself, Italian artists Mokadelic and acclaimed actress Greta Scarano, set to premiere at Rome Festival in October 2023.

His wide-ranging work has earned Stewart a long list of prestigious honors, including over fifty ASCAP and BMI Awardsfour Ivor Novello Awards for “Best Songwriter,” four BRIT Awards for“Best Producer” (including a Lifetime Achievement Award), a Golden Globe Award, and a GRAMMY® Award. “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)” by Eurythmics was recently inducted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame® and U.S. Library of Congress National Recording Registry, in recognition of its qualitative and historical significance. Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox were among the 2020 inductees into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, inducted by St. Vincent, with the ceremony taking place in 2022. Also in 2022, with an inspired induction by U2’s The Edge, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation welcomed Eurythmics as inductees for their profound impact on music. At both monumental ceremonies, Eurythmics brought the house down with their stellar and transcendent performance. Stewart will embark on a “Sweet Dreams 40th Anniversary” U.K. and European tour in November 2023.

Beyond his creative work as a musician, Stewart is a renowned film and TV producer (including NBC’s hit songwriting competition series, Songland), author, photographer, public speaker, and entrepreneur. In 2010, Stewart established Dave Stewart Entertainment (DSE), a “media company for the new world” (The Los Angeles Times), linking creative ideas to a host of projects in music, film, television, books, theatre, and new media. As the creator of content for DSE, Stewart has married his passion for music, film, and television by creating a number of high-profile projects. In 1990, Dave Stewart commissioned veteran music film director Robert Mugge and renowned music scholar Robert Palmer to venture deep into the heart of the North Mississippi Hill Country and Mississippi Delta to seek out the best rural blues acts currently working and create the documentary Deep Blues. The resulting film expresses reverence for the rich musical history of the region. Michael Wilmington of The Los Angeles Times noted it’s “a movie no blues lover, no popular music aficionado, and no devotee of American culture and folkways should miss…a peek into our national soul.”

Dave is the owner/founder of Bay Street Records, writing and producing with unknown and legendary artists to release on this boutique record label.
