Bunty Rowbotham

Bunty valentine daines specialising in the human figure and living forms.

The development of Bunty’s young career has evolved through the creative experimentation of 4D dimensions ever since she was able to be in contact with materials. The journey quickly grew towards using the diverse hand crafted light weight , bronze or copper wire mesh sculptures. Bunty has taken this a step further by sculpting, gilding and distressing a finish which is unique and sympathetic to her works.

With her keen observation of the subject she has managed to capture movement, which shows freshness and energy to the impressionistic sculpture works.

Working alongside a blacksmith, stone mason and electrician, she has presented her work very professionally and beautifully. Some sculptures have lighting, which only can enhance and show the exquisite dimensions Daines has crafted into these pieces.

The figure

The machine made material is completely deconstructed and manipulated to a more organic rounder shape, creating a very surprising result of romantic storytelling life forms.
The material is very much industrialised, mainly for constructing building work but this is what makes the beauty of changing such a harsh element.
“I adore capturing the personality of a life form and simplifying the object to focus on its true characteristics”.
My figurative work, has partly been influenced by the sculptures within ancient greek art, because being able to recreate the timeless works is an important and beautiful way to relate my work to.
(Bunty never moulds the wire its always hand crafted.)

organic shapes.
Each sculpture is carefully shaped with her bare hands to sculpt the required shape. Bunty also uses models from life to capture a composition of the individual anatomy.
For reference I photograph the required subject to capture the movement and its true characteristics.

Commissions

Bunty personally adapts sculptures to her clients with a subject they desire. The Life forms are beautifully handcrafted and made to bring out the best.
The personal commissions are very important to her; creating something to remember, so that she can physically and visually bring a presence to a room.
Both of Bunty’s parents are leading impressionist painters and bunty wanted to relive the skill and true art they create by adding 4 dimensional approach similar to their believes of capturing life in action.
“I really believe in bringing a stylish personalised piece of art into your homes to not only add a design feature but a presence to the room because there is something quite special, being physical creatures to feel art whilst visually appreciating it.”

LIGHT
My passion for working with woven wire mesh has developed since discovering its ability to enable light and form to reflect the essential part of the sculptures. The mesh is sympathetic to the silhouette of the figure . “I use the power of illusion as 70% of the figure is just suggested.”

Requesting a desired sculpture commission or a specific sculpture shown on the website can simply be discussed by sending a message or directly emailing Bunty’s email. BuntyRownotham@outlook.com
