Roger Clarke is an artist working across a variety of media including sculpture, photography, installation, video and sound. After graduating from the Slade School of Fine Art, he was awarded the Henry Moore Sculpture Fellowship at Winchester School of Art and subsequently the Rome Scholarship in Sculpture at the British School at Rome.
His work has been exhibited extensively throughout the UK, Europe, and beyond, including recent participation in the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition (2024) and the Burghley Sculpture Garden (2023). Earlier exhibitions include the National Sculpture Prize at Broomhill Sculpture Gardens (2019), the Venice Biennale (2019), and solo exhibitions at the Michael Pennie Gallery, Bath Spa University (2022) and the Winchester Gallery (1992).
Clarke’s recent projects demonstrate a continued exploration of interactive and dynamic forms. These include a large-scale spinning sculpture and the Record Player Orchestra, a performative installation that investigates collaborative sound manipulation. This unique project employs record players and a specially recorded vinyl record, mastered at Abbey Road Studios and pressed at the Vinyl Factory, London, to explore the symbiotic relationship between physical engagement and sonic output.
Clarke is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Bath Spa University.
