The Public Eye are a Derby-born indie/Alt rock band formed in 2021, featuring Joey Greener, Jonah Radford, Cavan Brady, Zack Bednall and Charlie Royle.
Lulled to sleep by The Strokes and Bloc Party in their infancy and now following the light lit by Fontaines DC and The Night Cafe, The Public Eye have carved out a raw, evolving sound that’s entirely their own.
Their latest EP release ‘Éternel Romantique’ is The Public Eye’s tender meditation on love in all of its forms. Taking inspiration from George Orwell’s ‘1984’ to Snapchat and afterparties, the collection of five tracks explore the intricate web of modern relationships and connection in young adulthood. Balancing hopeless romanticism with realism and disappointment, the tracks capture those moments when the rose-tinted glasses begin to slip, and the ache beneath the beauty is revealed….
Since the very beginning, The Public Eye have had unwavering support from BBC Introducing, who have consistently championed their releases and growth. Backed by the weight of their hometown, Derby’s often-overlooked music scene has rallied behind them, making The Public Eye a standout representation of the city’s talent.
Their triumphant debut UK headline tour last year saw multiple sold-out shows in key cities such as Leeds and Manchester, a sign that their music is resonating well beyond their hometown scene.
In recent times the band has supported the like of The Reytons, The Mercians, The Manatees and Kelsy Karter and the Heroines with festival appearances such as Isle of Wight and YNOT also under their belt.
2025 has seen The Public Eye’s sound and songwriting mature greatly. What began as raw, youthful energy has evolved into something more defined and emotionally charged with their latest material capturing a deeper sense of introspection.
This is a band growing into their own identity with confidence and conviction…
