BJÖRN AGAIN 1988-2026 (The original Australian ABBA homage)

The BJÖRN AGAIN name was specifically created in 1987 by Rod Stephen as his personal comedic pseudonym he used when skiing with friends in the Victorian alps. In October 1988 whilst drawing inspiration from the theatrical musicianship and brotherly kinship of New Zealand band ‘Split Enz’ and seen in films ‘The Blues Brothers’ and ‘Spinal Tap’ ,then 29 year old Rod ultruisticly dreamt along similar lines of procuring lifelong musical friendships. Whilst focussing on creating something totally unique and original Rod Stephen formulated the winning combination of covering the music similar iconic look to the mostly forgotten seventies Swedish supergroup ABBA with integral and crucial ingredients Rod had seen in the cult films including tongue-in-cheek, satirical humour combined with rocked-up music. Most importantly It was the name Björn Again which has been universally acknowledged as the key to the success. by the world’s media along with comedy and music royalty and even Sovereign Royalty.

The internationally acclaimed BJÖRN AGAIN, created in 1988 in Melbourne by Rod Stephen, rapidly garnered a global cult status and critical acclaim as a humourous, rocked-up, tongue-in-cheek satirical ABBA homage. Credited with singlehandedly initiating the world-wide ABBA revival which led to ABBA Gold, Muriel’s Wedding, and MAMMA MIA! BJÖRN AGAIN in its 38th year has amassed an impressive 5,800 performances in 77 countries reflecting ABBA’s enduring appeal, with their success with Voyage.
