As part of Henley Festival’s Early RISErs programme sponsored by Hemani – supporting local young musicians and artists – the Early RISErs Young Artist Prize invites children aged 5–11 to take part in a special creative competition ahead of Playdate @ Henley Festival on Sunday 12th July.
Young artists are encouraged to create a painting, drawing or mixed media piece inspired by the theme “My Favourite Place”. Whether it’s somewhere real or imagined, we’re looking for creativity, colour and personality. All artworks must be no larger than A4 and suitable for framing. The competition will be judged by a panel including a local artist.
Entries will be judged across three age groups (5–7, 8–9 and 10–11), with one winner, two runners-up and seven shortlisted artists selected in each category. All finalists will have their work exhibited at Playdate @ Henley Festival, with prizes for winners and runners-up including art supplies and tickets to attend the event with a parent or guardian.
To enter, children can submit their artwork through their school or send a physical copy to: FAO Emma Ellis, Henley Festival, Leander Club, Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire, RG9 2LP. Please ensure the child’s name, age and a parent or guardian’s contact details are clearly written on the back of the artwork.
The competition closes on 1st June, with winners and shortlisted artists announced on 15th June and featured in the Henley Standard that same week.
